It was a cold and windy day here in Hampshire but it was sunny so I was surprised to find only one butterfly flying at Noar Hill.
Was I dissappointed? Of course not because I was to have the pleasure of my first Duke of Burgundy of the year.
I found it on the path during a cold spell but it was soon flying in the intermittent sunny intervals.
A sunshine moment for the first Duke of Burgundy of the year.
For the coleopterists among you I also found two of these beautiful beetles roaming the paths at Noar Hill and would assume they are members of the Geotrupidae family.Namedroppers welcome!!
