I found a mating pair of Gatekeepers, the butterfly that can easily be mistaken for the quest specie as they flit about up high in the Blackberry blossom.
The path between the rape field and the Blackthorn bushes leading to the bottom of the reserve is shown below, plenty of Thistles,Wild Parsnip,Alfalfa and grasses are situated along each side of the path.
From this point they flew into the Bramble where the female started imbibing on the blossom-
"Charming" I must say!!!
They still made a charming couple.
The only other moth seen was one of those mysteries that need further investigation which is possibly too worn. Many thanks to Tim Norris of Hants & IOW Butterfly Conservation for the name of the below micro moth which is Celypha lacunana. Not as exciting as previously this week but at least it blew out the cobwebs.
