I think the night it was 15c I had 4 moths in the trap the next day so maybe moths are going through the same as butterflies and having a June gap of their own.
Last night was again mediocre but did provide my first migrant moths of the season with a NFW moth called a Bordered Straw and the good old favourite Silver Y.One other plain looking NFW moth also turned up called Blastobasis lacticolella which wont raise anyone's blood pressure.
To get away from the decorating I decided to check out the underpass at Odiham to see if any moths had arrived and again was disappointed but for a different reason.
I found a Tawny-barred Minor and not much else and then the penny dropped as to the reason why when 12 bikers rode through the underpass at speed creating a draft like you get on the underground and I watched a single moth come off the wall and vanish out the other end.We all like hobbies so I will just have to grin and bear it.
Lets hope for better things - after decorating!!!
