At Whitmoor Common car park SU981529
near Guildford whilst having my lunch break I had the same thing occur as at Oakhanger on Friday, when an Orange Underwing settled on the ground when I was without a camera, but this time I had a phone with a camera and you can see my patience has paid off.
The moth is so well camouflaged against the sandy floor that had I not seen it fly to this position it would all be down to pure luck to find it.
It is difficult to differentiate between Light Orange Underwing and Orange Underwing in worn individuals but I think I have what I have been trying for.
