Worldwide Distribution: Europe - excluding (Azores,Balearic Is.,British Is.,Canary Is.,Channel Is.,Crete,Cyprus,Ireland,Luxembourg, Madeira,Malta, Norway & N Russia) - eastwards to central Asia and western China

Habitat: Fallow and Waste Ground : Woodland Glades : Dry sandy fringes near the coast : Rocky Slopes

Observations: Although listed as a British species there is no clear evidence to substantiate this.
The range of this species is from Portugal to south of Finland eastwards to central Asia and western China where it can be reasonably common in certain areas.
The forewing background is white with the lower part of the antemedian fascia brown and postmedian fascia quite distinct in black.The terminal area is bluish grey though at the inward curves of the postmedian fascia it is brownish-grey.There is a narrow white subterminal fascia bluish-grey and brownish -grey suffusion between the subterminal fascia and termen.Four distinct black/brown terminal spots on the upper part of the forewing termen.There is a small black discal spot on the hindwing.
