Description

Worldwide Distribution: Europe - less Croatia,Ukraine and some Mediterranean Islands : Near East : Eastern Palearctic
UK Distribution: Southern England and Wales - locally common : further north including Scotland - local

Habitat: Chalk and Limestone grasslands : Open Woodland

Pupa: Pupate in a cocoon on the ground
Observations: A very distinctive micro with its orangy brown or suffused brown forewing.The moth is also distinctive in not having any cross lines and with silvery and black short apial streaks.The ocellus is close to the tornus edged with greyish metallic markings and 2 or 3 black dashes. At rest the forewings are folded at about half way between costa and dorsum.
Moth flies at sunrise and again in the evening and is attracted to light.
