Description

Observations: The dorsal blotch on this moth is usually contrasting yellow - yellow orange and is slightly curved as can be seen in the above photo.The hindwing is dark brown and paler at the base.
The male of the similar species Dichrorampha flavidorsana Knaggs, 1867 has a costal fold to one third (whereas this moth has the fold to one half), a slightly narrower dorsal cross band and dark brown hindwing. The female of this species can only be separated by genitalia examination.
This moth is brown with bright speckling from apex along costa to one third in yellow to yellow orange and a yellow to yellow orange band that curves from dorsum to the middle of the wing.There are a series of black dots along the termen.
The moth shown below was found in my garden and was seen flying regularly in the mid afternoon sunshine although I never found it on the Oxe-eye Daisy,preferring Buddleja or Purple Loosestrife.
The moth it is attracted to light but I never found it at the moth trap.
