Worldwide Distribution: Europe : Turkey : Caucasus
UK Distribution: England -found mostly in the woodlands in Central-Southern England : North to Yorkshire-thinly distributed : E Wales-thinly distributed

Habitat: Established Oak woodlands : Hedgerows
Similar Species -
Pupa: Pupates in a cocoon among larval food plant leaves
Overwinters as: Larva
Observations: The cream and light brown tornus patches,chequered fringe and white lunules on the hindwings make this a very easily identified moth.
The beautiful lime green background on the wings tends to fade with age,turning to buff or whitish.
The thorax is the same lime green colour as the wings but the head is white
The moth can be disturbed from Oak during the day and the males are attracted to the moth trap in small numbers,the female less so.
