Description
Wingspan: 15-20mm
Worldwide Distribution: Temperate and southern Europe west to Asia Minor
UK Distribution: Common throughout the British Isles but local in Scotland

Similar Species -
Overwinters as: Larva
Observation: The most defining mark of this moth is the chocolate brown marking in an arch shape just before the tornus and on the dorsum.
It is a generally grey brown moth with pale grey borders with cross bands which extend to the costa.
Although there are no similar moths there is little chance of mistaking this well marked moth.
As the name suggest the larvae feed on a variety of the rubus genus like Raspberry, Dewberry,Loganberry and of course Blackberry which gives this moth its common name.
The moth is known to come to light.
