Similar Species -
Overwinters as: Pupa
Observations: As an early spring moth it is easy to recognise this species with rounded,elongated forewing in pale to dark,brownish or greenish grey.
The females have a less rounded forewing.
Cross lines are usually feint although in the form fasciata Prout, 1901 they are dark and bold. The hindwings are whitish with small basal lobe on males only.
Although the moth usually flies from dusk thay can be found during the day either resting on tree trunks or posts and fences.
The moth is attracted to light and can be found at the moth trap on occasions in good numbers.
