Description
Wingspan: 15 - 22mm
Worldwide Distribution: Europe - less (Croatia,Greece,Portugal,S Russia, & some Mediterranean Islands ) - far east across China
UK Distribution: Local throughout south east England with isolated coloniesnorth to Yorkshire and north Wales

Observations: This pug is not difficult to identify with its chalky white markings on a narrow forewing that has a straight costa and very small discal spots.
Cross lines can be bold usually finishing with a kink towards the costa. The chalky white area is usually central positioned within the forewing with darker band around the outsides although some of the pugs are merely banded with white.
A local species throughout the south east with a wide range of habitats.
The moth flies from dusk and is attracted to the moth trap sometimes appearing in good numbers.
