Description
Wingspan: 20 -25mm
Worldwide Distribution: Europe - less (Portugal and some Mediterranean Islands ) : to central Asia
UK Distribution: Scarce species : Along coasts from Essex to Dorset and inland along the Thames estuary : range spreading

Habitat: Open derelict coastal ground : Sand-dunes : Shingle Beaches

Observations: This pug is quite large with forewings tinged with brown with slightly wavy cross lines and bands. Cross lines beyond discal spots bend backwards to finish at costa.
The costa is fairly straight but curves near apex. Subterminal line is whitish and wavy,slightly broader towards termen.
Althogh similar to the Grey Pug this moth has a less rounded forewing and is less uniformly grey.
Moth is attracted to light.
