Observations: All pugs have numerous sinuous cross lines which angle back towards the costa. The central discal spot is quite well pronounced.There is a dark brown band at base of abdomen.
Freyer's Pug - quite large pug grey or grey brown forewings. Edinburgh Pug - smaller with sandy or grey-brown forewings and weaker markings. Meres Pug - strongly marked with a greyish - white tint,especially in centre of forewing.
Worn individuals of the Edinburgh Pug would possibly need to be identified through genitalia examination.
Moth flies from dusk and is attracted to light.
