Worldwide Distribution: Europe - less (Belgium,Channel Isles,Denmark,Norway,Russia - except south,Netherlands and all Mediterranean Isles ) : Caucasus : Morocco
UK Distribution: Mainly Coastal, local in Devon,Cornwall,along west coast England & Wales to Hebrides and west coast Scotland & Ireland.Recorded south coast England and at a few inland sites in Hampshire,Derbyshire,Staffordshire,Yorkshire,Cumbria and central Scotland

Habitat: Rocky Coastal Cliffs : Limestone Quarries : Partly Vegetated Sand-dunes

Observations: This small grey pug is best separated from its similar species by the bold evenly spaced spots along the leading edge of the costa and discal spots.This moth also has a black fascia which in the Channel Island Pug is missing.
The moth is a nationally scarce species under the UK Biodiversity Plan, being restricted to coasts and small numbers of inland sites.
The moth flies from dusk and is attracted to light.
