Worldwide Distribution: Europe - less Greece,Portugal,S Russia & most Mediterranean Islands : Temperate Palearctic Region
UK Distribution: Recorded locally throughout Britain : Ireland - recorded on scattered sites

Habitat: Pine Plantations : Gardens : Where pine trees established
Similar Species -
Overwinters as: Pupa
Observations: This small pug is generally plain with its sandy coloured forewing with two highly defined black elongated discal spots in the centre of the forewing and feint black spots along the costa.
Although similar to the Thyme Pug it is highly unlikely the two species would be seen together as the similar species is a nationally scarce moth.
The moth is attracted to light.
