Description
Wingspan: 13 - 15mm
Worldwide Distribution: Europe - less (Croatia,Greece,Ireland,Portugal,E,N & S Russia & most Mediterranean Isles ) - to Caucasus
UK Distribution: Local in England,mostly South East

Habitat: Woodland : Parks : Gardens : Hedgerows
Similar Species -
Pale green lines occur at subdorsal and spiracular region.
Pupa: Pupates in cocoon among flowers or in plant material
Overwinters as: Ovum
Observations: Moth tends to be variable with forewings ranging from shades of yellowish brown through to grey.Similar to the Slender Pug, their seasons tend to overlap but easy to separate as seen below.
The moth can be identified by the dark almost semi-circle blotch at the interesection between tornus and subterminal line with white spot behind the semi-circle, adjacent to the termen. ( See photo 2,middle bottom)
Post median line tends to be clealry indicated although the discal spot is inconsistent.
The moth is attracted to light.
