UK Distribution: Common in most of England and Wales but local further north : Scotland & Ireland-absent

Overwinters as: Pupates amongst leaf detritus on the ground
Observations: The moth forewing is blackish grey with a white semi-circular marks from basal area to median area starting and finishing at the costa,sometimes with a yellowish tinge, sadly not shown below.Towards the termen and located on the costa are two white spots.
The moth can be located during the daytime on tree trunks and at night is also attracted to the light trap.
