Malta,Portugal,Sardinia,Sicily & Spain) : Caucasus : Manchuria : Japan
UK Distribution: Common throughout the British Isles with the exception of Scotland where it is very local.

Similar Species -
Overwinters as: Larva
Observations: The forewing is creamy white with patches of brownish yellow and greyish. A clearly defined broader oblique median fascia in reddish brown separates this species form A.cnicana where the median fascia is thinner and less oblique. The similar species is also slightly smaller than this moth.
The moth flies at dusk and is attracted to light.
