Description
Wingspan: 31 - 36mm
Worldwide Distribution: Europe - (Excluding - Azores, Balearic Is.,Canary Is.,Crete,Cyprus,Ireland,Madeira and Portugal)
UK Distribution: Quite well distributed and frequent in England and Wales south of a line from Glamorgan to Lincolnshire.Channel Isles - widespread but occasional

Observations: A black dash that joins the forewings across the abdomen in a straight line when moth is at rest ,continues as black line to create antemedial line,both being one when the wings are closed,is diagnostic with this moth.
A poorly marked moth with many of the cross lines usually absent although there is a bold white emphasis on the subterminal line where it meets the tornus. Some individuals show many thin cross lines although in most cases there a few cross lines visible.
Flies at dusk and comes to light usually in small numbers
