UK Distribution: Common and well distributed about much of the British Isles : Very local in Northern England and Scotland

Similar Species -
Larva: Feeds on members of the knapweed family, where it is a root miner
Observation: A very easy moth to identify in the field with its bright yellow forewing ground colour and its semi circular brown markings towards the termen.
Its similar species A.hamana has a lighter creamy yellow forewing and the markings towards the termen are more is more triangular at the start and the rust brown markings tend to be lighter brown.
The moth usually flies at dusk and occasionally comes to light and only lives for a few days.
