Observations: The Straw Grass-veneer A.straminella is probably the commonest of all the "grass moths" as well as being the least colourful and can be found in most grassland habitats throughout the British Isles.
As a plain moth it can be identified by being small with no cross line markings,the termen fringe is metallic in appearance with the outer part of the fringe being lighter. The longitudanal line is faint,the moth is often speckled and the overall shape of the moth is tapered.
Similar species : Garden Grass-veneer C.culmella-larger size with a metallic sheen : Satin Grass-veneer C.perlella-larger size,shiny appearance and more uniform breadth
The moth which is common on grassy habitats is easily disturbed during the day and comes to light after dark.
