Observations: The Hook-streak Grass-veneer is common and widespread throughout the British Isles where it can be found on rough grassland areas where it is easily disturbed during the day.
C.lathoniellus can be identified by its white median and costal streaks, the former having a notch half way along, and the costal streak being straight.
The subterminal line is sharply bent with its inner edge being dark brown. Like most grass moths the hindwing is medium brown colour.
The moth is one of the earliest Crambids to appear in the year, emerging in May.
The larvae of the Hook-streak Grass-veneer feed within grass stems and roots of its larval food plants.
The moth flies at night and easy disturbed from rest during the day.
