Description
Wingspan: 13-21mm
Worldwide Distribution: Europe - less Croatia,Greece & most Mediterranean Islands : Caucasus : Daghestan : Armenia : Turkmenia : Asia Minor
UK Distribution: Fairly common throughout British Isles

Observations: The forewing is narrow basally and rounded before straightening at half way, along costa, towards a sharp apex and concave termen.The moth is extremely variable between yellowish brown to reddish brown with fine veins and marking darker creating a net like pattern especially in paler specimens. Cilia along termen are pale yellow or white,brownish at the apex.The terminal line is usually darker than the ground colour making the termen pronounced.
The median area has darker markings variable in size and sometimes "Y" shaped.
The moth can be disturbed during the day,flying and dusk,and is attracted to light.
