Pupa: Overwinters in a cocoon in loose soil

Observations: The moth,having no similar species is very easy to identify, both from pattern and the time of the year the moth is on the wing which is usually between march and april in a single generation.
The broad forewing comes in varying shades of brown with a straw coloured median area which is usually lighter than the postmedial area which can on occasions be very dark brown.The antemedial cross line is straight from the dorsum before kinking at about 45 degrees towards the costa.
Some of the cross lines are edged with black.
The moth can be found flying at dusk and is attracted to light,being found at the moth trap in small numbers.
