Description
Wingspan: 31 - 34mm
Worldwide Distribution: Europe - ( Excluding - Azores,Balearic Is.,Canary Is.,Corsica,Crete,Cyprus,Madeira,Malta,Norway,S Russia,Sardinia & Sicily)
UK Distribution: S W England,Wales north to Isle of Man - found in small numbers - local : East Dorset,Hampshire,Isle of Wight,W Surrey - local - increasing range : Central and Southern Ireland - local : other small numbers recorded in West Midlands,Kent and coast of Essex (MGBI)
UK Conservation Status -
Habitat: Damp,mossy Woodland : Old banked Hedgerows : Wooded Rocky Ravines

Overwinters as: Pupa
Observations: A fairly easily recognised moth with the main diagnostic feature being the postmedian line projections into the white area which has two teeth on each projection. Hindwing pale brownish white with darker border.
A nationally scarce B moth according to the UK biodiversity Plan is scattered locally throughout southern England,Wales and southern ireland with other small colonies where the moth is recorded.
The moth cn be disturbed during the day and is attracted to light usually after midnight.
