UK Distribution: Common throughout the British Isles although local in Scotland

Observations: The moth is recognisable from the wing shape where the termen form a "V' shape and the costa is a gentle curve from base to apex.
The moth is usually found in two wing patterns both of which are shown below.The forewing has a net-like pattern which assists in identifying this moth.
The first pattern is light brown with two angled darker brown costal streaks. The second pattern is an extension of the first with dark brown markings within the median area.
The moth usually flies from dusk and is attracted to light.
