Worldwide Distribution: Europe - ( excluding - Azores,Balearic Is.,Canary Is.,Channel Is.,Corsica,Crete,Cyprus,Ireland,Madeira,Malta,Portugal & Sardinia) : S Urals : S Siberia
UK Distribution: Red Data Book Species : First recorded in England at Shoreham,West Sussex : Kent - Dungerness - colonised from 1950 onwards : Sussex - Pagham Harbour eastwards along coast to Walmer & Sholden Kent : recorded further west at Portland Bill,Dorset,Southsea and GosportHampshire,Wareham Dorset.Possibly expanding its range with recordings from Greater London and Norfolk

Habitat: Vegetated Shingle Beaches : Gardens occasionally

Observations: As a resident species,since 2002, this moth has extended its range along the central southern and south eastern England coasts from Dorset to Norfolk and is classified as a Red Data Book rare species.
The moth is well marked on its broad forewing with three white marks including stigmata,orbicular spot and narrow marks emanating from basal area. The fringe is marked alternately with white dashes along with a series of black dashes inwards of the terminal area.
The moth is attracted to light but appears rarely at the moth trap.
