Worldwide Distribution: Europe - excluding (Azores,Canary Is.,Channel Is.,Cyprus,Czech Rep,Denmark,Estonia,Finland,Hungary,Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania,Luxembourg,Madeira,Norway,Russia,in south only,Slovakia,Sweden) : North Africa
UK Distribution: Rare immigrant from Southern & central Europe and North Africa first appearing in this country in the South east at Greatstone,Kent in 1995. Subsequently there have been approximately a dozen records.

Observations: A rare visitor from Central,southern Europe it is possible that the moth is now resident in South eastern England where it was first recorded from Greatstone in Kent on 12 October 1995.Recording since have occurred at New Romney,Dungerness,and Rye Harbour nature reserve giving credence to its possible residence.Last recorded in 1998 at time of writing.
The moth is reddish brown with pointed apex and strong dark,edged white subterminal line,lighter median lines and an inverted crescent shaped discal spots.
The moth is attracted to light.
