UK Distribution: Common throughout much of Southern England & Wales : Very local in Northern England ; Rare in Scotland

Observations: This moth is one of the easiest cnephasia species to recognise, where the male has single coloured forewings in either whitish grey,pale yellowish brown or dark yellowish brown,occasionally speckled with black scales.The female forewing is pale yellowish brown with diffused markings, with a cross band darker brown than forewing and an antemedian oblique cross band.There are other difuse markings in darker brown with black freckling near the apex.
The moth is easily disturbed from rest during the day,flies from dusk and is attracted to light.
