Description

UK Distribution: Southern England and coastal south Wales - local : Eastern England and North Wales - very local : South east Ireland & Scotland - rare : Yorkshire - recorded previously

Habitat: Short or grazed grassland on calcareous limestone : Sand - dunes : Quarries
Similar Species -
Overwinters as: Larva
Observations: A nationally scarce species found in southern and south eastern England,coastal south & north Wales as well as being rare in Scotland and Ireland.
Although similar to M.lappella and M.metzneriella the moth lacks the black discal spot on the forewing but with M neuropterella it is smaller and less streaked.
Seldom seen through the day but occasionally seen at light.
