Norway,Poland,Sardinia,Slovenia & Sweden) : Cosmopolitan pest found in N America,Australia & N Africa
UK Distribution: Restricted to southern half of England although found anywhere where dry food is stored. ie docks or warehouses

Habitat: Coastal Scrub : Cliffs : Gardens : Unheated Buildings - ie caravan : Maritime habitats
Similar Species -
Pupa: Pupates in a flattened cocoon of sand and fine debris
Overwinters as: Larva
Observations: Very similar to M.oviella but with an ochreous dorsal streak as opposed to the similar species where it is pale yellow.The white speckling adjacent to costa is very limited with the similar species also the hindwing is dark fuscous whereas with this moth it is pale grey.
The discal spot is translucent although usually appears to be white.
the moth is locally abundant in areas where dry vegetable matter like flour,natural fibres such as woolens are stored as well as caged birds like pigeons or chicken and bat roosts.
