The brown subterminal cross-line curves inwards towards the dorsum and the reniform stigmata is feint and bordered with a light brown line.
Two elliptical circles adjacent to the costal streak complete the identification markings for this moth.
The similar species U.decrepitalis looks very much like this moth, especially when worn, but U.lutealis forewing ground colour is lighter, and has less darker banding towards the termen.
U.decrepitalis emerges earlier than U.lutealis
Easily disturbed during the day, usually amongst low growing vegatation, and flies from dusk where it can be found on flowers.
The moth is also attracted to light.
