Overwinters as: Pupa
Observations: This moth is a fairly scarce migrant from mainland Europe that migrates northwards reaching the southern coasts of England and Ireland between August and October, the latter being the most likely time to see this species.Although generally scarce the moth is arriving more regularly, especially since 2006, with and average recording being between ten and twenty individuals.
It is resident in mainland Europe but is most common around the Mediterranean area where it has two generations per year.
The moth forewing can vary between shades of russet brown from dark to orangy with others being rather plain or softly speckled dark pinkish brown. There is a small black edged dot on both forewing and hindwing.
The moth can be confused with second generation Clay Triple-lines although the forewing is more tapering and strongly hooked.
The moth is unlikely to be seen normally although the odd specimen will turn up at the light trap.
