Observations: This moth is one of those moths with no similar species, but is immediately easily recognised with the basal half of the moth in dark brown with the other half being light grey or light brown.The moth can be found on trees or fences during the day where it sits in an inverted "V" formation.The moth is very hairy round the thorax and also the rear end.
The male moth is a frequent visitor to the light trap although the female less so.
The Nut-tree Tussock flies at dusk.
