Observations: The Cream Wave as the name suggests has a white cream background colour with fine black speckles across the wing and four or five wavy cross lines which are light brown or darker brown.
The moth hind wings are rounded with very small black discal spot which occurs on the forewings although these tend to be lighter.
The Scottish form of this moth f.scotia is shaped similar but is smaller and darker in colour with the black speckling thicker and much darker than the nominate form.
This form is more local in Scotland and generally found in the western half of the country.
The moth is resident in Britain although it is possible that migrating individual possible reach these shores.
