Worldwide Distribution: Europe - excluding S Europe ( Azores, Balearic Is.,Canary Is.,Channel Is.,Corsica,Crete,Cyprus,Greece,Madeira,
Malta,Portugal,N Russia,Sardinia,Sicily & Spain) : eastwards to N China,Korea & Japan
UK Distribution: Found locally in suitable habitat in southern England,Wales,East Anglia,eastern and northern England,south-west and western Scotland,Ireland and Isle of Man

Observations: The common name for this moth is derived from the creamy white wide streak that runs parallel to the costa from which the oblique reniform stigma forms a hook-like projection into the nut brown forewing ground colour which varies on different specimens. The costal streak is greyish with edges marked with light pink tinge.
The moth flies by day and by night and is attracted to the light trap.
