Description

Worldwide Distribution: Europe : Asia : N America-pacific northwest & British Columbia

Overwinters as: Larva
Observations: The moth can be separated fro its similar species P.cinnamomeana Treitschke, 1830 by the lack of white marking above the head.The angle of the median band or fascia is also different from the similar species with an angled scallop in the band near the trailing edge.
The wing is reddish brown with darker median fascia,basal area and black markings along the costa adjacent to the apex plus a feint chequered patterning across the forewing.
The moth is easily disturbed during the day,flies from dusk and is also attracted to light appearing at the moth trap in reasonable numbers.
