Observations: The Small magpie moth is possibly the most recognised of the "micro" moths with yellow head and thorax and a black abdomen, thinly ringed and finalised in yellow.
The forewing is white with brown-black markings in dots,dashes and lines.
The moth is usually on the wing from May until September although it is regularly recorded outside of these months.
The moth is easily disturbed during the day where its rests on fences etc and is also attracted to the light trap usually appearing in small numbers.
