Observations: T.acroxantha is possibly an Australian species that has been accidentally introduced into this country on plants, and has since expanded its range northwards from southern England.
Being a garden species I can say from experience this moth is often found during the warmer months indoors, clearly venturing in through the open windows. Here in Fleet in Hampshire I can remember at least four times this has happened during this season.
The forewing background colour is light brown with indistinctive brown spots and an orange cilia along the termen, making this moth unmistakable.
The moth is usually found at rest indoors or in an outbuilding during the day and is readily attracted to light.
