Description

Worldwide Distribution: Europe - ( Excluding - Azores,Balearic Is.,Canary is.,Channel Is.,Corsica,Crete,Croatia,Cyprus,Greece,Ireland, Madeira,Malta,Sardinia and Ukraine) : eastwards to China,Korea and Japan
UK Distribution: Locally distributed in England and Wales,possibly expanding range

Similar Species -
Observations: The male of this species has a white face and part of the labial palps,and the hindwing of the female is tinged reddish brown towards the apex, these being the main differences which identify this species from it siimilar species P.heparana.
The moth forewings are rddish brown with a darker basal and median areas and a traingular blotch off the costa adjacent to the apex.
The moth is easily disturbed during the day and is attracyted to light.
