Observations: This moth is a very rare migrant from southern Europe, having only arrived here about six times since 1990 with a vast range from southern Europe into the tropic and subtropic regions of the world where it is considered a pest of grain legumes,destroying the seeds of many familiar cultivated plants.
It has been introduced into America and Australia.
The forewings which are longer than the abdomen are yellow - brownish grey wings with a characteristic white costal stripe and an orange spot at basal third up against a blackish basal line.
