Worldwide Distribution: From Portugal to Iran as far as Amur in east.

Habitat: Dry Grassland : Woodland Edges
Similar Species -
Overwinters as: Larva
Observations: Formally in a heathy wood at Vert Wood Complex near Laughton in East Sussex the moth finally became extinct in this country in 1961.
A local species in Europe, the moth range extends through central Europe as far as the Amur region in eastern Russia.
The Common Heath looks similar to this moth but is coarsely marked, with the male have extremely feathered antennae, whereas the antenna with this species is only slightly feathered.
