Overwinters as: Adult
Observations: The forewing is usually pale brown to greyish brown with darker speckling,sometimes tinged reddish,whilst the basal area is lighter and extends along the costa.There are a pair of black spots at approximately one third with the lower spot being edged in white. Another white dot just before half and another just after half way,both edged darker.
The similar species A.ciliella is larger with five distinct lines in the hindwing pink-tinged cilia,with the underside of the moth also strongly tinged with pink.This moth may have one distinct and up to four faint cilia lines.
Alternative to this to determine the species would require genitalia examination.
Moth is attracted to house and moth trap lights.
