Overwinters as: Larva
Observations: The moth was first discovered in 1831 on the east coast of the Isle or Portland, Dorset which gave the moth its vernacular name and has been the only resident population in Britain since, although it is recorded as an immigrant most years along the southern coasts,a situation which has improved since 2006,recording five moths most years. As a Red Data Book species it is considered rare.
