Description
Vernacular Name: Broom Flat-body
Wingspan: 18 - 21mm
Worldwide Distribution: Europe - less (Bulgaria,Croatia,Estonia,Finland,Hungary,Ireland,Latvia,Lithuania,Slovenia,Ukraine and some Mediterranean Islands)
UK Distribution: Widespread locally throughout Britain where host plant grows

Similar Species -
Overwinters as: Adult
Observations: Although a variable moth it can usually be identified by the dorsal spots,the first appearing at one third the wing length and are a black facing outwards towards costa. This pair of spots can be edged rearwards in white as shown in photo one below or completely black. The second pairs of dorsal spots are at two fifths the wing length and are white ringed in black and almost parallel.
Genitalia examination should be considered when separating this moth from its similar species.
