Overwinters as: Unknown
Observations: First appearing in 1952 in Bexley Kent this small gelechid was considered to be a rare immigrant usually along the south coasts and recently Ireland, but this may have slightly changed when in December 2015 a large influx of at least 60 of these moths were recorded mainly at the moth trap. They were also recorded inland as well with a recording from Wallingford in Oxfordshire. I'm sure when all recordings are finally collated the figures will be much higher and possibly well spread.
The influx was created by Sahara storms which pushed the moths northwards. Previous sightigs have always been in May and June but now December can be added and possibly any other month if weather creates the same conditions.
