Description
Vernacular Name: Small Barred Long-horn

Worldwide Distribution: Europe - excluding (Azores,Balearic Is.,Bulgaria,Canary Is.,Corsica,Crete,Cyprus,Madeira,Malta & Sardinia)
UK Distribution: Local throughout much of England and Wales but rare in north and west

Similar Species -
Observations: The forewings are blackish brown with a purplish hue,golden between the veins and a yellow antemedian crossband. The antennae are twice the length of the forewing in the male and slightly longer than the forewing in the female.The similar species N.degeerella is larger than this moth and is usually found in in groups dancing in dappled sunlight whereas this moth appeared to be on its own.
The moth flies during the day and does occasionally come to light.
