Description
Vernacular Name: Green Longhorn
Wingspan: 14mm-18mm.
Worldwide Distribution: Europe - excluding (Azores,Balearic Is.,Canary Is.,Corsica,Crete,Cyprus,Finland,Greece,Madeira, Malta,Portugal, Sardinia & Slovenia)
UK Distribution: Common in England : Wales : Southern Scotland and locally in Ireland in open areas such as Heathland,Marshland, Meadows, Coastal areas where the larval food plant is available ,usually found in numbers flying in warm sunshine.
In Hampshire I found them at Keyhaven along a coastal path and Martin Down where in both cases they were flying above the tops of a Hawthorn (Crataegus).

Observations: Another member of the fairy longhorn moths commonly named Green Long-horn Moth, derived from the forewings which show a beautiful metallic green sheen when caught in sunshine. The hind wings are metallic bronze in colour.
The males have long white antennae with long black hair on their heads. The female antennae are shorter with lighter shorter hair on their heads.
Wingspan: 14mm-18mm.
