Worldwide Distribution: Palearctic Region : Europe - less Croatia,Slovenia and some Mediterranean Islands : N America
UK Distribution: Fairly common throughout the British Isles although absent from parts of Scotland

Similar Species -
Observations: The Ermine moths are extremely difficult to separate although as a rough guide the grey cilia of this moth separates it from the Apple Ermine also the grey suffusion on the forewing of the moth separates it from the Spindle and Willow Ermine.Another way of separating these moths is by rearing the relevant species on its specific food plant.
May be found during the day on its larval food plant and is attracted to light.
