Description
Vernacular Name: Long-horned Flat-body
Wingspan: 15-19mm
Worldwide Distribution: Europe - less Estonia,Latvia,Lithuania,Ukraine and some Mediterranean Islands : Introduced into N America - British Columbia & W Washington
UK Distribution: Common throughout British Isles but local in Scotland
UK Conservation Status -
Habitat: Deciduous Woodland : Hedgerows : Scrub : Gardens

Overwinters as: Larva
Observations: The moth is variable in colour from cream to orangy brown or blackish pink. The basal area is darker than the main forewing colour with a series of yellow marks pointing backwards.On the centre of the forewing at the costa are another pair of yellow marks and four discal dark spots.The terminal line is the same colour as the basal area and the fringe is creamy white.The termen is strainght but angled inwards.
The moth is readily disturbed during the day and is attracted to light.
